Swiss investment bank UBS is continuing to bolster its local research team, this time signing the dotted line with a former McKinsey & Company management consultant.

Andre Fromyhr will join the Australian research team from late July, having previously spent five years at McKinsey working with executive teams on business strategy, corporate strategy, corporate finance, and transformation across several sectors.

He has also done eight years across JP Morgan and Commonwealth Bank of Australia doing sell-side research, focussed on transport and industrials.

Once again Fromyhr will initially have a focus on transport within UBS, before expanding into other sectors.

The big has also hired JPMorgan’s Shaun Cousins, who is also due to start in July as head of retail and consumer research.

Cousins has 18 years of experience in research in these sectors and is considered one of the top analysts in the field.

Previously announced new hires Lee Power and Nic Guesnon are also starting in July.

Earlier this month UBS announced five other new faces within its local research team, including two new mining research co-heads - JPMorgan metals analyst Levi Spry and National Australia Bank’s head of commodity research Lachlan Shaw.

UBS also poached Macquarie’s Scott Russell, who heads up the Silver Donut’s Asian financials research, but will start at the rival investment bank in August.

The company has been rebuilding its research ranks after new entrant Barrenjoey Capital Partners raided the team in March. UBS losses included small caps specialist Josh Kannourakis, banking analyst Jon Mott and mining sector specialist Glyn Lawcock, as well as a handful of others.

There are still a number of vacancies within the UBS team, so the hiring drive is tipped to continue in the coming months.
