Efficio has promoted London-based Simon Whatson to Vice President – the equivalent to partner at the international procurement consulting firm.
Simon Whatson becomes the first leader to join Efficio’s partnership since the consultancy returned to private ownership – in February this year, the management team bought the firm back from Livingbridge. The investor first invested in Efficio in 2016, and under its wings, Efficio doubled its headcount and turnover and established itself as one of the world’s leading specialised procurement consultancies.
Whatson has been part of the entire journey, having joined Efficio in 2015 from Oliver Wyman, where he worked in the firm’s supply chain, operations and procurement practice. Earlier in his career, he worked five years for BrainNet Supply Management Group (which was acquired by KPMG in the summer of 2012) and industrial trade specialist Wolseley, where he worked in its supply chain function.
The newly appointed partner leverages his 15 years of experience to manage (international) teams delivering large-scale procurement transformation projects, spanning a range of sectors. Internally, he has built a strong track record of revenue generation and leads a number of important accounts for Efficio.
Meanwhile, Whatson is one of the authors of ‘Profit from Procurement’, a co-authored with fellow partners Alex Klein and Jose Oliveira that was published a few weeks ago. “This is a very important book for Efficio because it distills our knowledge, insight, and expertise in procurement strategy and practices,” said Jens Pedersen, the CEO of Efficio (and a former Kearney consultant).
The promotion comes shortly after Efficio bolstered its German team with Frank Welge, who joined BCG Inverto, the procurement subsidiary of strategy giant Boston Consulting Group.
