A Leeds-based digital transformation consultancy has been snapped-up by acquisitive professional services giant Accenture.

Infinity Works, founded in 2014, has experience across multiple sectors from retail to financial services, as well as on some of the largest digital-led projects in national government.

Headquartered in Leeds, the company has offices across the UK including Manchester, Edinburgh and London. It employs about 440 staff, including experienced software engineers, data engineers, cloud architects, and cloud certified specialists.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen and expand the cloud and engineering capabilities of Accenture Cloud First in the UK. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The deals follows on from Accenture's acquisition of IT consultancy Edenhouse earlier this week.

Karthik Narain, global lead of Accenture Cloud First, said: "Acquiring Infinity Works is a significant step in advancing our Accenture Cloud First strategy and capabilities in the UK, and in achieving our purpose to deliver on the promise of technology and human ingenuity.

"The Infinity Works team brings deep cloud and engineering specialisation and increases our ability to leverage cloud-native architectures, applications and methods to help clients innovate and operate with speed and flexibility at scale."

Paul Henshaw, co-founder at Infinity Works, added: "Ever since Infinity Works was founded, we have used cloud-first approaches to help our customers migrate to the cloud and enable them to digitally transform at scale and speed. We are proud of our proven experience of delivering across multiple sectors using a combination of our unique working culture, values, and technical expertise.

"Accenture's resources and capabilities will enable us to better support our customers' digital projects while providing them with the same exceptional levels of service they've come to expect."

The deal provides an exit for Growth Capital Partners (GCP), which first invested in Infinity Works in March 2019 as a minority partner to the founder management team.

During the last two years, private equity firm's support and investment has enabled Infinity Works to evolve the service proposition of the business, strengthen management and significantly grow headcount, revenue, and profitability.

Addleshaw Goddard's Corporate team in Leeds advised on the deal, led by partner Richard Hunt and including associates Tom Hopwood and Charlotte Martin, and trainee Shannon Hardcastle.

Richard Hunt, partner at Addleshaw Goddard, said: "Infinity Works has been a long standing client of Addleshaw Goddard, and we advised the founders on the initial investment from GCP back in 2019, so it has been a pleasure to work on this deal and seeing the journey through to a successful conclusion. Yorkshire is nationally recognised as hub for digital excellence, and Infinity Works is a fantastic example of the high quality businesses that operate out of region."

Clearwater International advised Infinity Works, led by Leeds partner Richard Goldsack, partner Carl Houghton, director Wesley Fell-Smith, associate directors Jonathan Grant and Kirsten Handley, associate Gregory Cornes and executive Carly Sinicrope.

PwC (Will Oxley, Peter Stephenson, Simon Viner, Usman Choudhary) provided financial due diligence and tax advice.
