Accenture has agreed on a strategic partnership with Shiseido Group, a Japan-based multinational beauty company, to help Shiseido accelerate its digital transformation so it can more quickly respond to rapidly changing customer and market demands.

Accenture will help improve Shiseido’s digital business model by providing a range of services designed to drive an enterprise-wide transformation of Shiseido, which operates in approximately 120 countries. These include helping design, develop and implement a cloud-based global information and communications technology (ICT) system that makes data more visible and accessible across the organization, supports innovation across the entire company, and enhances the digital capabilities of its workforce.

The ICT system will help Shiseido adopt processes that enable continuous financial reporting, better forecasting accuracy, and more precise inventory management — all of which are essential for the realization of digital transformation and give the company the ability to adapt to fluctuations across its global supply chain.

As part of its work, Accenture will deliver state-of-the-art capabilities that combine its expertise in AI, analytics and automation to create new business value for Shiseido. By reimagining Shiseido’s business to fuse online and offline experiences, Accenture will help Shiseido create personalized and seamless customer experiences, such as product recommendations based on previous purchases.

With an eye toward upskilling its future workforce, Accenture will also conduct training sessions tailored to the skills and interests of Shiseido’s employees, drawing from its expertise in digital transformation management, artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies to ensure that Shiseido’s workforce has the skills and agility needed in the digital era.

Accenture will focus on the Japan market first, with a goal to deliver greater value for all of Shiseido’s stakeholders, including its employees, shareholders, partners and communities. The two companies are also planning to establish a joint venture to execute the digital transformation more swiftly and effectively.
