On January 13, ThoughtWorks announced that it bought Gemini Solutions, privately-held software development and IT consulting firm with 170 team members in the US and Romania. The deal sees ThoughtWorks enter the Romanian market, with its local operation providing nearshore support for clients in Eastern Europe, the UK and Germany.

Continuing its European expansion, ThoughtWorks has now bolted-on Helsinki and Amsterdam based Fourkind, adding a 40-strong team of data scientists, machine learning experts, designers, and engineers that have worked with 80+ organisations in 10+ countries since inception four years ago.

“In Europe, we have been on the hunt for a company that will help us accelerate growth in our key strategic focus areas of data, digital transformation, enterprise modernisation and customer experience. We are delighted that Fourkind will be joining the ThoughtWorks family,” Guo Xiao, president and chief executive officer of the Chicago headquartered company.

Jonne Heikkinen, managing director and one of the founding partners of Fourkind said: “We believe that being part of ThoughtWorks will offer us the opportunity to grow faster and be part of an agile and successful global team of like-minded passionate technologists who want to make an extraordinary impact in the world.”
