INvolve, a diversity and inclusion consultancy, has named Gabrielle Novacek and Michael Schachtner of Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Diana Ellsworth of McKinsey & Company among its 100 global OUTstanding LGBT+ Executive Role Models.
The annual list recognizes LGBT+ executives who are “working hard to create more LGBT+ inclusive workplaces.” INvolve also recognizes LGBT+ future leaders and ally executives in separate lists.
Gabrielle Novacek is a partner and leader of BCG’s Chicago office, as well as a member of the consulting firm’s North America management team. She is the first lesbian to hold an office leadership role and an executive management role at BCG.
Novacek is co-leader of BCG’s global diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) team, where she oversees the firm’s internal DEI agenda, including efforts to support LGBT+ employees. She has also served as global leader of BCG’s LGBT+ employee resource group, Pride@BCG.
Novacek’s consulting work focuses on people strategy – including organization and operating model design, new ways of working, and culture. She joined the firm in 2007.
A trained archaeologist, Novacek holds a PhD in Near Eastern languages and civilizations from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University.BCG and McKinsey senior leaders named LGBT+ executive role modelsMichael Schachtner is partner in BCG’s New York office, where he advises financial services and insurance clients on new ways of working, talent enablement, and technology modernization. Schachtner joined BCG in 2009 and worked at the firm’s Zurich and Amsterdam offices before relocating to New York.
He is a member of the firm’s DEI council and leads the North America Pride network. Schachtner is also on the steering committee for the Partnership for Global LGBTI Equality (PGLE).
Prior to joining BCG, he was an associate in the family office practice of Peters, Schonberger & Partner. Schachtner holds a PhD in accounting and finance from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and a bachelor’s degree in business and economics from the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt in Germany.
Diana Ellsworth is a partner in McKinsey & Company’s Atlanta office, where she focuses on people strategy – including leadership development, workforce strategy, talent planning, and DEI. Ellsworth is co-founder and leader of the firm’s global DEI client advisory practice. She joined McKinsey in 2009.
Ellsworth also co-leads McKinsey’s global LGBT+ (GLAM) network and has been a core leader of local, national, and global LGBT+ recruitment efforts across the organization.
Prior to entering consulting, Ellsworth was a public school teacher and an executive director at non-profit Teach For America. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College.
Several other consulting leaders from outside the US were also among INvolve’s executive role models list, including four consultants in Asia.
