Dutch management consulting firm Vintura has launched in the United Kingdom, marking its first international operation since teaming up with PharmaLex.

Founded in 2000, Vintura is a boutique consultancy dedicated to the sectors of healthcare and pharma & life sciences. The firm’s 30 consultants bring deep industry expertise to the table, and help their clients with services including strategy, commercial operations, partnerships, performance improvement, value-based healthcare and programme management.

On the back of a growing roster of clients in the UK, which Vintura to date has been serving through fly-in teams from its office in the Netherlands, the consultancy has now setup shop in what is Europe’s second-largest market for healthcare-related expenditures. Meanwhile, the UK is home to several of the globe’s largest pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer and home grown AstraZeneca and GlaxoSmithKline.

The expansion comes six months after Vintura formed a joint venture with PharmaLex, a 1,000-strong business services provider to the pharmaceuticals industry. Back in December last year, when the alliance was formalised, Vintura’s managing partner Gérard Klop announced the firm was preparing a new international hub, and now, despite the covid-19 crisis and Brexit, Vintura has pushed through its plans.

Commenting on the move, Bas Amesz, a Partner at Vintura said: “It was a logical move to expand to London – the UK is progressive in the field of life sciences developments and is a natural first step up for our pan-European journey.”

Appointed to lead the new office is Richard Ogborne, scientist by training who also has over a decade of consulting expertise under his belt. Having gained industry experience in R&D at Unilever and more recently at AstraZeneca, where he latterly served as Global Analytics & Insight Director for Brilinta (one of AstraZeneca’s flagship products), he also worked over five years for Navigant across two spells.

At Navigant, which now is Guidehouse, Ogborne was a Director in the firm’s Life Sciences practice, based in London. “Richard is a builder, which is important in this phase. He is someone that works with prudence and embraces our values. We are happy to welcome him to our team and serve even more clients from our new UK office,” said Amesz, a partner at Vintura.

Ogborne specialises in commercial strategy, commercial evaluations & due diligence (buy side & sell side), analytics & forecasting , brand performance management, lifecycle management strategy, pre-launch planning, competitive intelligence and market research. His therapy areas of expertise focus on cardiovascular and metabolic disease, renal disease, oncology and dermatology.

Shortly after launching, Vintura has unveiled its first team hire. Appointed a Manager, Pany Koizi brings over five years of consulting experience to the firm, gained at Blue Latitude Health and GE Healthcare.
