Benoit Laclau, a senior partner at EY and the firm’s Global Energy leader, has been named the new UK & Ireland Managing Partner for Consulting.

The Frenchman has been with the Big Four professional services firm for over eight years, joining EY from EDF, where he was a Managing Director focused on Business Improvement & Transformation.

Having served as EY’s Global Power & Utilities Advisory leader for three years, in 2015 Laclau was promoted to the role of Global Power & Utilities leader, overseeing EY's global network of over 4,000 sector professionals. Three years later, he ascended to the top role of the industry vertical, leading a team of over 20,000 industry experts.

Within the sector, Laclau specialises in advising utility companies on business transformation, market entry strategies, customer transformation, tech disruption and IT transformation, cost reduction, capital projects, cybersecurity, smart metering, and back-office improvements.

The arm helps clients with among others strategy consulting (delivered by EY-Parthenon), finance & risk, supply chain and procurement, sales & marketing, digital and technology services. Laclau will work closely with Stuart Orr, Advisory Lead for UK&I, which also houses the firm’s mergers & acquisitions and financial advisory offerings.

Laclau brings more than 20 years of consulting experience to the role. Prior to EY and EDF, he worked six years for Accenture and two years for Kearney (then A.T. Kearney), alongside spells in the finance departments of Reebok and a Harris EDA in France.

Stephen Lambert, Laclau’s predecessor, stood down from the role due to ongoing health challenges, but he remains a Partner at EY. Lambert has been with the Big Four firm for fourteen years, and previously served Accenture and Shell for nearly two decades.

Prior to joining EY, Benoit was Managing Director for Business Improvement, Technology and Transformation at EDF. During his career, Benoit has gained significant experience in advising companies on market reforms, business strategy, tech disruption, cybersecurity and structural reorganisations.
