European software and cloud firm SAP SE is accelerating its push to meet the rapidly rising demand for its services in the Chinese market. As the effects of the coronavirus pandemic slowly subside in the region, the company reiterated its long-term commitment to providing top-notch cloud computing solutions to its Chinese customers.

The company's latest commitment is part of its five-year China Accelerators initiative, which it had started to implement back in January last year. The plan involves strategies that would strengthen the company's position in the country and bolster its overall growth in the region.

SAP Greater China President Mark Gibbs mentioned in a statement that the services provided by the company will be key to accelerating the digital transformation of Chinese companies. Given the current economic situation, reliable communication and technological advancements are now seen as vital components in helping companies return to profitability.

The executive added that SAP considers China to be its second home and it will do everything it can to help companies emerge stronger from the crisis. During the first three months of the year, at the height of the pandemic, SAP had worked with Chinese medical equipment firm Mindray to establish a dealer management ecosystem that greatly boosted its operational efficiency.

During the crisis, SAP also allowed companies to have free access to its SAP Ariba Discovery platform. The platform allowed companies to immediately fulfill sourcing needs, which any supplier can respond to, without paying any type of fee. SAP opened up its platform to help the disrupted global supply chains hit by the pandemic.

Apart from offering its services for free, SAP also donated software worth more than 15 million yuan to small and medium-sized businesses in China's Hubei province. The company had stated that SMEs were a vital part of the global supply chain and ensuring their survival was paramount.

SAP also recently closed a deal with Chinese sportswear firm Anta, which is now using its next-generation enterprise resource planning business platform. Using the company's innovative software solutions, SAP believes that Chinese companies can respond more quickly to market changes while also giving them the flexibility to adapt to new trends.

IT research and consultancy firm Gartner pointed out that Chinese businesses were quick to react to the crisis by immediately embracing digital innovation to offset the supply chain disruptions. By doing so, most businesses were able to survive the months of economic turndown better than if they had relied solely on pure cost optimization.
