Software and outsourcing specialist Capita has entered the tech consulting sphere with the launch of its new branch, Capita Consulting, including hubs in Manchester and Newcastle.
Capita Consulting aims to help clients deliver operational transformation through opportunities in digital strategy and optimisation, automation, cloud platforms, Internet of Things, and advanced data analytics.
It has established regional centres of "consulting excellence", with the goal of moving away from a classic London-centric focus, and invested in digital hubs in Manchester, Newcastle, and Edinburgh as well as London. It has already established ambitious plans to achieve a workforce of around 450 by the end of 2020.
Capita Consulting is the Headline Partner for this year's Digital City Festival, taking place next week. Visit digitalcityfestival.com to learn more about the five-day event.
Partnership and collaboration are key to Capita Consulting’s plans - joining up with an established network of cloud technology providers, FinTechs, start-ups and subject matter experts. Its goal is to pre-empt industry disruption and mitigate the risk of digital transformation.
Patrick Gormley, who is leading the new practice, observes that incumbent legacy businesses are struggling to find the capacity and capability to keep up with the pace of disruption, and the gap between expectations and reality is growing wider and wider.
He says that while some businesses have made serious inroads into matching the digital experiences of companies like Uber and Google, the vast majority are struggling to keep up with the demands and expectations of their customers. Their challenge now is to move off the internet and into the market to deliver transformed and joined-up experiences.
Gormley will be a keynote speaker at Digital City Expo, part of the wider festival taking place in Manchester from March 9th to 13th. He will be sharing his views on why delivering real digital change is more important than ever and to examine how change can be delivered in more effective and innovative ways.
