Simon-Kucher & Partners, a global strategy and marketing consulting firm specializing in pricing, has opened a Houston office.

The company, which has had customers in Texas for a decade, has leased 3,700 square feet at Phoenix Tower in Greenway Place from Parkway Property Investments. It is one of seven Simon-Kucher offices in the U.S. and 39 worldwide.

Philip Daus, a partner who has been with the company for more than 15 years, leads the Houston office, which will have about eight employees by the end of the year.

The firm specializes in using data and analytics to make decisions. In Houston, customers and potential customers include suppliers to oilfield service companies, chemical companies, manufacturers, industrial firms and software companies, Daus said.

Founded in Bonn, Germany, Simon-Kucher has more than 1,400 employees worldwide, including about 300 in the U.S. It has offices in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Silicon Valley. The company said it has roughly doubled its business in the U.S. every five years over the past 25 years.

In addition to other consulting work, Simon-Kucher develops strategies and promotions to price products across a variety of industries. The company recently consulted with Uber in developing a loyalty program that enables customers to gain privileges over time.

"As a firm, we've priced literally everything from diapers to caskets," Daus said.

Simon-Kucher signed a three-year lease at 3200 Southwest Freeway with an option to expand to an adjacent space or larger space within Phoenix Tower or Greenway Plaza, Daus said. Terms were not disclosed.

The Greenway Plaza location offered a close-in location with less traffic than the Galleria or downtown, Daus said.
