Professional services firm Deloitte has appointed a director into its transaction services team in the North East.
Insurance specialist Matthew Thomas has joined the firm from Ageas, where he was responsible for strategy and planning, with the new recruit also having worked for AXA and AA Insurance.
Thomas will now be focused on M&A covering due diligence, looking at post-merger integration, as well as business performance improvement work.
"This role is a total change for me and a challenge I will relish," said Thomas.
"I’ve a wealth of experience in developing and delivering significant business change. This has included setting up new businesses, creating large scale and long term joint ventures/partnerships and also a number of mergers and acquisitions."
Matt Henderson, lead transaction services partner at Deloitte in the North East, added: "Matthew is a great addition to the team as we continue to build our M&A capabilities in the region with sector expertise. We are investing in the growth of the transaction services business despite the uncertain times we currently face."
The transaction services team in Newcastle is now six strong, with the team having advised True Potential on the firm’s buyback of a portion of its shares held by private equity backer FTV Capital and Vertu Motors on its acquisition of Vans Direct.
