The Tokyo 2020 organising committee has signed the Boston Consulting Group K.K. (BCG Japan) as an Official Supporter, the third domestic tier of the Tokyo 2020 domestic sponsorship programme.
The company will be a partner in the ‘Professional Services’ category, covering strategy consulting, project management, planification and management consulting.
BCG Japan has already supported the organising committee in the establishment of a roadmap and ticket pricing strategy.
Yoshiro Mori, president of Tokyo 2020, said: “We believe that as a proven business management consulting firm with 50 years of experience in Japan, BCG Japan will continue to provide major support and collaborate as we aim for the success of the Tokyo 2020 Games.”
BCG has previous experience at Olympic Games organising committee level as a tier-three sponsor and adviser on merchandise and ticketing at London 2012, where professional services network Deloitte was the Official Professional Services Provider in a tier-two deal.
Tokyo 2020’s other major professional services category partnership is with EY Japan – the Japanese wing of accountancy firm Ernst & Young – which covers audit, finance, tax, project management and management consulting. EY Japan is a third-tier Official Supporter, and was also an Official Supplier at this year’s Rugby World Cup in Japan.
At Rio 2016, EY Brazil signed as the official provider of consulting services to the Games in a tier-two deal.
The addition of BCG Japan brings the total number of Tokyo 2020 domestic partners to 66, including 15 Gold Partners, 32 Official Partners and 19 Official Supporters, including one Official Supporter which sponsors only the Paralympic Games.
