One of the biggest sustainability and transformation partnerships has appointed a new chairman.
Alan Yates, a former NHS chief executive, will oversee the Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership.
The job was advertised at up to £60,000 for two/three days per week.
Cheshire and Merseyside has appeared to be among the more disjointed STPs over the last three years. It has struggled to make progress on major service changes and its organisations reported a deficit of more than £50m for the first three months of 2020-21.
Mr Yates, who joined the STP this month, was chief executive of Mersey Care for 12 years to 2012, and Stockport Healthcare Trust for 10 years to 1999.
He has worked as a management consultant for the last seven years.
His consultancy website says he has “extensive experience of designing and operating governance systems” and is an “experienced implementer of service process redesign”.
In a statement, he said: “I will work to nurture partnership working across the whole area so that together we can accelerate progress to give everyone in Cheshire and Merseyside a great start in life, and the support they need to stay healthy and live longer.”
Mr Yates and the STP will now seek to appoint a new leader/chief executive, following the departure of Mel Pickup.
The STP was formerly chaired by Andrew Gibson.
