Centrica, an international energy and services company, has selected Cognizant as its partner to deliver end-to-end digital assurance as-a-service across its technology landscape. The move is part of its wider digital transformation agenda.
With around 28 million customer accounts mainly in the U.K., Ireland and North America, Centrica is one of the globe’s larger supplier of energy and energy-related services. The company services its customer base through several operating arms, such as British Gas, Bord Gáis Energy and Direct Energy.
As part of Centrica’s strategy to upgrade the agility and efficiency of its IT infrastructure, as well as add enhance its IT driven ability to enable customer service, the firm a while ago launched a technology backbone transformation. Under the programme’s umbrella, Centrica has commissioned Cognizant to deliver end-to-end digital assurance as-a-service across its technology landscape. As part of the three-year agreement, Cognizant will also standardise and automate processes, and drive service virtualisation.
Centrica is familiar terrain for the international consulting and technology firm. Their relationship started in 2005, and spans a broad range of consulting, application, business process and digital transformation services. This agreement enhances our ongoing partnership with Cognizant and enables us to deliver another strand in our IS transformational strategy,” said David Cooper, Interim Group CIO at Centrica.
The initiative will, according to Cooper, help Centrica reduce the total cost of ownership, while creating a secure and scalable digital-ready technology backbone, enabling the energy giant to respond more effectively to changing business needs. “The programme will standardise our processes across the Group, ensuring best practice digital assurance and control capabilities, while achieving significant cost savings, too”, he remarks.
