FTI Consulting has recently picked up three senior advisers from KPMG, who all join as Senior Managing Directors based in the firm’s London office. Sarah Lane takes on the role of leader of the Tax team’s financial services group, Peter Scholes has been appointed leader of the Tax team’s treasury tax services and Ben Tausig will serve as head of FTI’s insurance tax offering.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Sarah Lane worked at KPMG, where she was a Partner and worked on issues pertaining to financial services and international tax during her more than 15 years at the firm. Previously, from 1998 until 2001, Lane worked at EY within the firm’s international and treasury tax group. Earlier in her career, Lane worked in the legal industry, serving law firm Eversheds between 1996 and 1998 and Linklaters, where she started her career in 1987. In between the two spells, Lane worked as a Lecturer in Law at the University of Leeds for around five years.
Peter Scholes has more than 25 years of experience in UK and international tax. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Scholes worked at KPMG, where he was Head of Financing and Treasury Tax in the firm’s International Tax and Treasury practice. Scholes was responsible for supporting the firm’s clients, both inbound and UK outbound, with group financing and international structuring. Previously, from 2001 until 2010, Scholes worked for French multi-national bank BNP Paribas, managing the bank’s UK and international tax teams.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ben Tausig worked as a Director within the Financial Services Tax practice of KPMG, holding responsibility for the Lloyd’s and London Market Tax practice of the accounting and consulting firm. Tausig started his career at Deloitte in 2002, working his way up to Senior Manager within the firm’s Financial Services Tax practice. At the Big Four firms, he has gained experience in advising multinational insurance groups on tax and capital efficient group structures, overall tax strategy, as well as advising private equity firms on acquisitions, and providing tax due diligence. Tausig holds a Master of Arts in Mathematics from Cambridge University.
The three new hires join as Senior Managing Directors within the firm’s Company’s European Tax Advisory practice, part of its Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment. Lane leads the Tax team’s financial services group, Scholes heads FTI’s treasury tax services within the Tax team and Tausig brings his experience in insurance to the role of lead of the Tax team’s insurance arm. They join a team of 65 professionals in London.
