As part of a retained search for a strategy firm and one of our key clients, Consulting Point put together a dedicated search team to fulfil a set of key hires; one of which being a Partner in Cybersecurity. As part of this search the client had specified a set of key focuses within Cyber that were key to the growth of their team, this allowed the team to contact a more targeted list of candidates within our network.

The search consisted of a large amount of initial research into the Cyber marketplace and specifically the competitors of our client, this involved both our existing network and expanding out beyond this. The team put together a longlist of relevant candidates and then reduced it to a shortlist of the highest quality people, this was then our target for initial conversations. After exploring the opportunity with several of the candidates on the shortlist Consulting Point were able to highlight the best suited candidates both in terms of skillset and, more importantly, company culture fit. We have worked with this firm for a long time so had an extremely strong understanding of the types of personalities and approaches that would be successful in that environment.

The interview process at this level requires a large amount of meetings, especially as this firm is highly collaborative so meeting more of the wider team (outside Cyber) would be advantageous upon joining the firm. We helped to ensure the candidates had any insight we were able to give on the people they were meeting, as well as the key parts of their skillsets that would be worth elaborating on or explored by the business. Through this process, the eventual hired candidate truly stood out in terms of personal fit and highly utilizable skillset within the practice and beyond.

The candidate also had a competing offer from a technology giant, so ensuring that they had all the information on the benefits of joining this strategy house and the route to Equity Partner were essential to them being able to make an informed decision. Our client made a clear effort to make a strong connection with the candidate through the offer process and showed their intent through a very competitive offer, which was happily accepted by the candidate.
