British strategy consultancy CIL has appointed a new partner in its Munich office: Jim McDonnell.

Based out of Munich, Jim McDonnell takes on responsibility for leading CIL’s business in Germany and for driving its growth in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).

London-headquartered CIL launched its German business in 2021, complementing its footprint in the UK, France and the US. The office supports mid-market companies and private equity funds with strategy, growth, mergers & acquisitions (commercial due diligence) and investor support.

McDonnell joins CIL with heavy-weight credentials, having spent over 30 years in consulting with Boston Consulting Group, Kearney, PwC and OC&C Strategy Consultants.

An American national and a University of Notre Dame alumnus, he undertook an MBA in Strategy and Economics at Northwestern University before starting his consulting career in Chicago and then moving to London. He has spent the last six years living in Munich leading the DACH practice of OC&C Strategy Consultants.

“Jim has a fantastic track record of driving growth in the region and advising both multinationals and private equity firms. He is a great fit for CIL’s culture, and we look forward to working with him to help drive CIL's growth across our key service areas,”

said Jon Whiteman, Managing Partner at CIL.

Commenting on his new challenge, McDonnell said:

“It is an exciting time to take on a partner role with CIL. I really enjoy building and growing teams and clients so leading the Munich office is a brilliant opportunity. I am looking forward to working with the team to support our clients across DACH and globally.”

McDonnell said he was also drawn to CIL for its ambitious growth plans and international goals –

“I am thrilled to play a part in its success and help take growth to the next level."
